Sacramental Catechesis
The purpose of sacramental catechesis is to prepare baptized children for reception of the sacraments of Penance, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Preparation for Penance precedes catechesis for first Eucharist and generally begins when the child is in the second grade; preparation for Confirmation usually begins when a youth is in high school. Children preparing for the sacraments are expected to attend weekly Faith Formation either at the parish or in one of our Catholic Schools.
Parents not only have the right but also the responsibility to be intimately involved in preparing their children for the sacraments. Therefore, the parents of children preparing for these sacraments are expected to attend special sessions as their children prepare for the reception of each sacrament. The supportive role of parents creates a home environment that nourishes a love of God and an appreciation of the sacraments.
Please note that the baptismal certificates for all children and youth preparing for these sacraments must be sent to Holy Spirit Catholic Church care of Kathy Hoffman for Penance and Eucharist and Justin Hartwell for Confirmation.
To register for Sacramental Catechesis, please fill out the following form and bring it by or mail it to the parish office.
